Eclipse Information 2024

2024 Solar Eclipse Resources

The next total solar eclipse visible in North America will be on April 8, 2024. The path of totality will stretch from Mexico to Maine, although all of the US will be able to see a partial eclipse. In Greenbelt, we will see 89% of the sun covered by the moon. Use the information below to plan your viewing and obtain supplies to see the eclipse safely.

Eclipse Path and Timing

Fred Espenak’s Website: https://eclipsewise.com/2024/2024.html

  • Everything you ever wanted to know about eclipse path predictions from “Mr. Eclipse” himself. I highly recommend his Road Atlas for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.
  • Notes on the Road Atlas: If you want the hard copy, I recommend the color version as it is easier to read the maps.  The B&W version is $17, and the color is $22.  Links on his page for the hard copies take you to Amazon. For the digital version ($20), click on the digital edition link either above or below the book cover image. Do not click on Order Now, as that will give you an error. The digital edition is sold through the greatamericaneclipse.com website.

Xavier Jubier’s Interactive Eclipse Map: http://xjubier.free.fr/en/site_pages/solar_eclipses/TSE_2024_GoogleMapFull.html

  • Great interactive map. You can zoom in to the individual house level and get exact eclipse stats for that location.
