DESCRIPTION:Weather permitting\, the Astronomical Society of Greenbelt will host a star party at the City of Greenbelt Observatory on Saturday evening\, June 18\, starting at 9:30 pm. We’ll be using the observatory’s 14-inch telescope to view some of the many objects currently high in the sky. \nAll are welcome\, whether Astronomical Society of Greenbelt members or not. Visitors are encouraged to set up their own telescopes on the hilltop in front of the observatory. SUMMARY:ASG Summer Film Festival: The Martian
DESCRIPTION:The ASG’s summer film festival returns with The Martian. This highly popular film stars Matt Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars. Praised for its special effects and mostly accurate science\, this 2015 film is PG-13 and has an audience approval rating of 91% on the tomatometer (although potato meter would have been more appropriate here.) Running time is 141 minutes. Due to copyright restrictions\, this will be an in-person only meeting. \nThe film will be shown in Room 103 of the Greenbelt Community Center.
