DESCRIPTION:Green Bank 100-Meter Radio TelescopePhoto credit: Kevin A. Wilson \n\nThe speaker for our July meeting will be Dr. Patrick A. Taylor of the Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia. He will be speaking on the topic of planetary radar astronomy. The meeting will be on July 25 at the Greenbelt Community Center. We gather for informal conversation at 7:00 pm and the talk begins at 7:30 pm. You may also attend the lecture via Zoom. \nDr. Taylor grew up just down the road in Annapolis and Davidsonville\, Maryland. He did his undergraduate work in physics and astronomy at the University of Maryland\, College Park\, and then earned a PhD in astronomy from Cornell University. He spent almost a decade working at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico before moving to the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston\, Texas. He then moved to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) in Charlottesville\, Virginia.
