SUMMARY:Blackwater Falls Astronomy Weekend
DESCRIPTION:The Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society will hold its astronomy weekend in partnership with the WV Division of Natural Resources and Blackwater Falls State Park. This annual event takes place every fall in Davis\, WV\, under incredible dark skies that are an astronomer and astrophotographers dream come true. \nThis star party is not hosted by the Astronomical Society of Greenbelt. It is listed here as a courtesy to another club in the Mid-East Region of the Astronomical League. Please consult the event website for the most up-to-date information. \nSue Bassett and Kevin Wilson\, who are members of the Astronomical Society of Greenbelt\, will be giving presentations at the Blackwater Falls Astronomy Weekend. Sue will be speaking on “Fantastic Beasts and Why You Can’t Find Them\,” and Kevin will be giving a presentation on amateur radio astronomy.

SUMMARY:ASG Star Party
DESCRIPTION:Weather permitting\, the Astronomical Society of Greenbelt will host a star party at the City of Greenbelt Observatory on Saturday evening\, September 17\, starting at 8:30 pm. We’ll be using the observatory’s 14-inch telescope to view some of the many objects currently high in the sky. \nAll are welcome\, whether Astronomical Society of Greenbelt members or not. Visitors are encouraged to set up their own telescopes on the hilltop in front of the observatory. In accordance with Prince George County guidelines\, masks are not required.
