SUMMARY:ASG Star Party
DESCRIPTION:Weather permitting\, the Astronomical Society of Greenbelt will host a star party at the City of Greenbelt Observatory on Saturday evening\, August 20\, starting at 9:00 pm and continuing for two hours. We’ll be using the observatory’s 14-inch telescope to view some of the many objects currently high in the sky. \nAll are welcome\, whether Astronomical Society of Greenbelt members or not. Visitors are encouraged to set up their own telescopes on the hilltop in front of the observatory. In accordance with Prince George County guidelines\, masks are not required. Attendees are asked to park in the ball field lot\, not up on the hill\, unless bringing a telescope. If you are arriving after dark\, please be aware that your car headlights can ruin the night vision of people already viewing. Please try to aim your headlights away from the hill or turn them off if possible. \nThe star party will be canceled without notice if it is hopelessly cloudy. \nThis event will be also be viewable on Zoom for those who might not be able to come in person.
